Whew...

That was one great weekend -- it was productive, full, and very very memorable. For starters, my two friends that I also work with spent the weekend over at my house. We had been working online for the most part, and we grab the opportunity to do a "hackfest" and be productive during some weekends. We've been able to overcome obstacles as a small group hacking at different things, eating lunch and dinner together, and unwinding with drinks.

I've also taken the opportunity to snap up pics during the weekend, and have found a renewed love affair with flora. I admit though, I still have a lot to learn about photography, but I certainly would like to be able to regularly take pictures of many different things. I'm posting these photographs for the world to see. If you'd like me to try certain things with the k750i, please just drop me a line.

Or if you want to get the raw 1632x1220 resolution image, please lemme know. ;)

I believe the person I'm seeing (I'm not really sure I want to put her name here anyway) and I have made very important and very memorable progress with the limited time that we spend together. Unlike most of the couples or "daters" that I know who have the whole week together after class, during breaks, the whole weekend, and even in class, we on the other hand make the fullest of the limited time we spend together. She's very understanding that I have work and live 20 minutes at least from UPLB, and I understand that her work requires her to spend a lot of time at their office. Hardly sounds like a god combination (busy guy and busy girl), but somehow I feel it's going fine so far.

I missed Sunday Service, but I vow to attend the mid-week service at UPLB. I also missed the ballgame, but I'll try my best to get back into shape through other forms of exercise. I believe in spending quality time, and the past week I've been able to spend quality time with my dad, co-workers, and the person I'm dating. I look forward to spending quality time with friends and workmates at the "Job Formerly Known As The Day Job" (JFKATDJ) -- which is a Job I have a lot of issues with right now. I'd have to sit down and talk to The Bosses, to clarify out some things and re-draft a new agreement between "The Company" and me. I look forward to spending more time with my cell group leader, for the one to one discipleship sessions.

I have to make it up to Braidwhip AKA Miss Inna for missing her thanksgiving party. I owe her two now -- one for getting me started to the way closer to Him, and now because I missed her party.

In a couple of weeks, I'll be talking at LinuxWorld, and I'll definitely be blogging about that. I'll also be defending the thesis real soon and I'm sure to blog about that. So many things going on, such little time to sleep. So many people to be with but too little time to give -- but as the last preaching I heard went, "God has enough for me..." and "God is enough for me...".

I'm very optimistic with the way this week is starting, and I look forward to another weekend.

CHill...

PS. If you have any questions regarding any of the photographs, comment on the post or send me a personal email -- that way I'll respond immediately.

Help wanted: writing resources

I'm currently fleshing out a fantasy setting for a series of short stories rattling in my head that I'd like to get out into the world. However, it's the first time I'm even trying to do this, so I need your help: are there any good resources for world-building and writing guides that have been helpful in your projects? So far I've been really enamoured by Brandon Sanderson's world building and Patrick Rothfuss' storytelling. I suspect those two are at the pinnacle of the trade and I'm probably not going to do myself any favours by trying to live up to what they're doing, but I'd still like to give it the good college try. Are there any resources (forums, books, guides, blogs, or courses) that I should be taking if I want to do a decent first take at this? This is probably better as an email to friends and maybe some random folks (or maybe even a tweet) but why not a blog as well?

Reconnecting with people

2021 started with a a good sense of connection for me, having spent time with friends and family in a simple celebration of the oncoming year. The transition from 2020 to 2021 and being able to look back at a good part of my recent history got me thinking about how life has been for me and the family for the past decade. There’ve been a lot of people that I’ve met and become friends with while there are those that I’ve left behind and lost touch with. There’s a saying about treating old friends different from new ones, which I do appreciate now that I’m a bit older. It also means that my relationships with people that I get to spend a good amount of time with take a different shape. This reflection has given me some time and space to think about what it means to reconnect with people. Friends are the family we choose ourselves. — Edna Buchman I have the privilege of having life-long friends that I don’t always stay in regular contact with. From my perspective, if I consider you a frien...

Grief and Mourning

I've not been writing for a long time already but this time I can't keep this to myself. There's been too much happening to me and my family the past few days that I need an outlet. I've tried talking it out, being silent, and crying it out. Right now though I'm numb. I don't know whether I can keep this to myself and if I do I don't think it will be a good thing. Maybe other people have had the same experience or at least gone through the same thing. Maybe just the act of writing this out is going to be enough to make me feel something. There was a time in my life that I had thought I've been through everything. I thought everything that can happen to me would be something I can deal with. There was no doubt in my mind that I can handle anything. Unfortunately this latest one that happened to me and my wife wasn't something I was prepared for. Nor was I ready to deal with it in a manner that was controlled or well-thought out. I thought maybe if I...
